  1. Silence

From the recording Dear Charlie

Silence is perhaps Mr. Haden’s most well known piece, and the group treats it with the respect that it deserves, while contributing a contrapuntal interpretation reminiscent of Bach, Mozart, or any of the masters of multiple voice-leading. The group clearly shows it’s comfort-level on this piece and they play in a nearly telepathic way. This comes as to no big surprise seeing how the group had just come off a 3-week U.S. tour that took them all the way down to New Orleans, where they spent time working with producer Delfeayo Marsalis before touring their way up to Montreal to hit the studio.
